Assignment 8,22,14

The United States faces many problems each year. Today, I believe the three biggest problems facing the United States would be: unemployment, poverty, and climate change. Each of these problems are increasing every year. What can the government and even the citizens do to fix these issues? How did the issues appear? Often these questions are asked by not only citizens living in the United States, but even our government as well.
The major issue that United States faces is unemployment. Why is this the case? Unemployment has been on the rise since the 1900's. More and More companies are looking to outside of the country businesses because it cuts the cost of labor. " Only 63 percent of working age Americans have jobs or are looking for one." The percentage hasn't been that low since 1978. Many people who are unemployed quit looking for jobs after some time. The biggest reason why unemployment rates are so high is because of our economy being weak. How can we fix unemployment issues? We need to get rid of the low wage jobs and create higher paid jobs. We need to get everyone to be able to get a job if they want to work. If the government can raise a two to three percent increase on  our economy that can create multiple job openings for unemployment.
Did you know that the average poverty level is around $22,000 per a family of four? If you were to calculate that, that means 15 million children live in poverty. For a family to cover just the basic expenses, they would need to make at least $45,000 per year. Many children do not receive government assistance because their parents make more than $22,000 per year. Children that live in poverty usually have a social and learning issues. With families that live in poverty, the chance of hunger increases. So how can the United States government fix the poverty issues? A couple ways to decrease poverty is to force families to only have a certain number of children. Smaller families do make more money per year than larger ones.
The last major issue I believe that the United States is face is the climate change. In the northeast part of the country, climate change varies from state to state. During hot summer days, the chance of air pollution increases. The air pollution can give many health risks to the young, the elderly, and to the workers who work outside. The northeast states have dozens of ski resorts, tests show by the end of the century some will be gone due to the warmer climate due to global warming. How can the government fix the climate issues? They can make more laws to help reduce how much carbon dioxide is released in the air from factories. They can also go green by recycling.
Every country has their own problems. Each issue stated above can be fixed and maybe some day they will be fixed. If these issues do get fixed, the United States will be a better country. If they focus on an issue at a time, they will have better chances of solving the problem.
