Bellringer 8,25, 14

There was a severe earthquake in Napa, California. It was the largest earthquake they had since twenty five years. Over 170 people were hurt and a few were in critical condition. Not only did the citizens get hurt, the local businesses got hurt as well. For an example, Lucera Olive Oil company had hundreds of broken bottles. With all of the chaos, the town is expecting atleast 30 aftershocks to occur. There is a chance that an aftershock of the magnitude of a 5 can happen.

Many people suspect the reason for the earthquake is because of the West Napa Fault. This fault happnes to be apart of a large fault zone smashed between two larger faults. The tectonic tensions between each plate caused to earth quake to occur. The fault makes more than just one slash again the Earth's surface. Even though the fault is none to be active, many people don't expect that it is a major fault in the Bay area.
